LIGHTHOUSE CENTER FOR THE ARTS ANNOUNCES

2005 PROFILE GUEST LECTURE SERIES
The Profile Guest Lecture Series each year features three prominent and nationally recognized speakers-the fourth Tuesdays in January, February and March-who discuss art-related topics and offer an enlightening perspective of the art world from their expert perches, or perform a compelling vignette for discussion. Following each lecture, guests enjoy a private opportunity to meet the guest speaker during an "afterglow" cocktail reception. Seating is limited. Tickets should be purchased in advance and can be charged over the phone: 561-746-3101. Past speakers have included the editor of ArtNews; the director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York; national museum curators; and auction purveyors.

Jan. 25: Jenny Aldrich, famed actress
Time: 4 p.m.
Location: The Lighthouse Center for the Arts
Admission (Lecture & Reception): Members $40 Non-members $50

Jenny Aldrich is back, this time with her dramatic portrayal of Lila Cabot Perry. In this portrayal, she discusses her friendship with Claude Monet and the story of Americans in Giverny, the "cradle of American Impressionism." As a member of a distinguished Boston family who received her first formal art training at age 36, Lila Cabot Perry was unlikely to become a professional painter, let alone a devotee of the French movement known as Impressionism. Yet she did precisely that, developing a solid reputation during her lifetime as a painter and a poet, helping to promote Impressionist art in the United States and Japan. It was in 1889, at age 41, that Perry saw her first Impressionist painting in a Paris gallery. The experience changed her life; she sought out the artist, Monet, and became his close friend. For nine summers, the Perrys rented a house at Giverny, near Monet's-and while he never took pupils, he often advised Perry on her art.
